Mikki is a IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist with over 20 years+ of experience studying and practicing yoga. Mikki considers yoga a gift, as it has helped her with her own struggles of anxiety and depression. Mikki worked in the Mental Health field for the last 12 years at a large multilevel eating disorder treatment center. Her focus was helping those with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and substance abuse. Mikki started the Mind Body program for the patients at this facility, where she used the tools of yoga to help the patient develop skills to manage their stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma response. She co-taught groups for those with EDSUD, Eating Disorder and Substance Use Disorder, with a fellow staff psychotherapist. She also developed with her own yoga teacher a Post Meal Mindful Movement protocol for helping with the stress and discomfort of re-feeding. Mikki also enjoys presenting as she is an experienced public speaker.
Mikki is a student in the Viniyoga lineage which uses the ancient science of yoga to help a person’s individual needs. Many yoga classes can be potentially healing, Yoga Therapy utilizes the specific application of yogic tools; postures, breath work, chanting, mudra, and meditation practices to create the right practice for you. The lineage Mikki practices from believe in a unique model of health, it approaches all aspects of life, body, breath, mind, behavior, emotions rather than considering each body part or system separately.
Mikki will listen carefully to do a thoughtful intake and determine how best to apply these tools to address an individual’s physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual health. After this one to one session, she will provide and teach you an individualized practice for healing, and personal growth. This practice allows the client to be involved in their own healing, which creates ease in the body, a focused and clear mind, and a calm spirit. Mikki also is certified to teach Relax & Renew Restorative Yoga. For those who need help managing exercise, Mikki is also a Certified Personal Trainer, she has helped many manage their over exercise tendencies at the Inpatient Facility she worked at. Clients will receive kindness, trauma-informed, respectful, openness, and therapeutic guidance working with Mikki. Her practice is gender and sexuality-affirming, all body and all ability inclusive.
