Dr. Jenna Gunnerson is a licensed psychologist with extensive training and experience in assessment and treatment for young people. Her clinical focus is primarily children and adolescents, but she equally enjoys working with young adults. She has worked in many settings, including day treatment, college counseling, community mental health centers, primary care and hospital clinics, and inpatient psychiatric units. She is familiar with diverse populations and a wide range of psychological concerns and severities.

Dr. Gunnerson’s approach is person-centered, strengths-based and insight-oriented. She uses relational and developmental frameworks focused on building the skills required to notice, regulate, and manage emotions and behaviors. Her main goal is to help clients learn about themselves so that they can engage with their world and relationships in healthy ways. She prioritizes her clients’ needs and perspectives above all else and collaborates with them to tailor treatment that is meaningful and effective. She strives to provide a sense of safety, warmth, and partnership in the therapeutic process of exploration and growth. Her clients can expect to feel welcome and respected for being exactly who they are, as they are.

As an area of clinical interest, Dr. Gunnerson has advanced training in diagnosis and therapeutic intervention specifically related to autism. She currently provides psychological testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis in children ages 4-17. She is skilled in interdisciplinary consultation and at translating technical jargon into information that is clear and useful. She also provides specific recommendations and thoughtful interventions to be used at home, school, and other social contexts.
