What will The Freedom of Forgiveness for Counseling Professionals address?

Forgiveness is an ancient and troublesome concept that challenges our understanding and refuses to disappear. It is an issue of universal human concern because hurts, betrayal, and injuries of one sort or another are universal human experiences and much of what drives people to seek therapy. Today, this topic enjoys a renaissance of new inquiry in society, medicine, and psychotherapy. A growing body of research suggests that the emotional relief of forgiveness also has physical health benefits.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review current research linking forgiveness with stress reduction and physical health.
  2. Understand the Psychosynthesis model of psychological health.
  3. Learn the Eight Steps of Forgiving Another
  4. Recognize which clients are ready to learn and apply a method of forgiveness.
