Susan Kotelman
She/Her/Hers
Susan is a pre-licensed clinician and certified yoga therapist.. She strives to create an authentic, safe, and nurturing environment where clients can better understand themselves. She is genuine, calm, and deeply compassionate. She listens closely for the themes beneath your words, the emotions under the surface, and the strengths woven into your survival strategies. From there, she facilitates exploring how those patterns can be updated to better fit who you are now.
Susan’s work is multi-modal and tailored to each client. She draws from psychodynamic therapy, somatic approaches, parts work, yoga philosophy, emotionally focused therapy, EMDR, and trauma-informed care. This may include exploring early attachment experiences, tuning into what your body is holding, gently working with different “parts” of yourself, and carefully processing past trauma with care and attunement. EMDR or deeper trauma work is done slowly and collaboratively. Gentleness and moving at a pace clients are comfortable with are central to her practice.
Susan enjoys working with those who identify as highly sensitive, neurodivergent, or prone to intellectualizing their emotions. She values supporting people who feel different, overwhelmed by the world, or are unsure how to reconcile their depth of feeling with daily life. She is skilled at gently building bridges back to your body and emotional world.
Outside of therapy, Susan is happiest spending time with her adult children, hanging out with her dog Waffles, reading, embroidery, practicing yoga, and taking long walks.
Susan is working under the licensed supervision of Dr. Emily Van Wyk Psy.D., LP while pursuing clinical licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
