Luyang Gao
She/Her/Hers
Luyang understands psychotherapy as the intricate process of restoring parts of ourselves that we struggle with. Believing that we can't control what happens to us, but we can change how suffering affects us.
Luyang provides psychotherapy in English and Mandarin, she is passionate about working with people on Mood Disorders, Trauma and Stress related disorders, Self-esteem, interpersonal and family conflicts, life transitions and cultural identity. Luyang utilizes eclectic approaches and theories, including Person-centered Therapy, EMDR, Ego States, CBT, DBT and Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Expressive Art Therapy to cater to each individual’s needs. Luyang begins by building a trusting and collaborative rapport, valuing her clients’ beliefs and exploring their inner worlds. Creating a safe, non-judgmental space, Luyang empowers clients to become their own experts in the healing process, fostering their growth and resilience.
When Luyang isn't in session, she can be found exploring local restaurants, art museums, and concert venues. She enjoys drawing and painting, always tries to learn animal languages to her dog and cat peacefully along with each other, and watches her favorite movies 100 times. Sometimes I stay up late to virtually celebrate traditional holidays and exciting life events with my family members and friends overseas.
Luyang is working under the licensed supervision of Ann Kellogg, MS, LPCC, while she pursues clinical licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor.
