Karen Pieper
She/Her/Hers
Karen Pieper provides individual and couples psychotherapy to a variety of adult clients. Using a collaborative person-centered approach, her clients disclose, openly explore, and gain insight into their lives to relieve stress and achieve a sense of wellbeing. She is particularly interested in working with people going through life transitions including divorce, break-ups, job loss, career exploration and grief. Through deep listening and curiosity, she creates a safe space to openly examine and gain insight into their challenges, helping them to relieve stress and achieve a sense of wellbeing. She uses strategies from narrative, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness therapies; her sessions are an opportunity to nurture her clients’ positive personal growth and change.
Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University in Minneapolis. She has provided counseling services since 2014 to individuals and couples. Karen’s professional psychotherapy experience includes counseling at the Walk-In Counseling Center, the Crisis Connection, and at the Mount Olivet Counseling Center. She is happy to be counseling at LynLake because she shares their vision to bring every client a greater sense of peace by guiding them to live more authentically.
In addition, Karen’s professional experience as a music director, jazz musician and teacher has helped her be creative and playful in her practice. She especially appreciates how using creative arts therapy can help clients “be in the moment” and develop their curious, rather than anxious, minds. Karen combines these experiences to find new ways to incorporate improvisation to benefit her clients’ positive self-worth.
