Do you ever feel like you're in survival mode, that your emotions are too strong to handle or that your emotions don't fit the surrounding situation?
You are not alone.
Reaching out to a therapist for help can be an intimidating process, and Joo strives to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for all adults. This allows for talking about and processing deeply personal things, and life becomes less overwhelming. Coping with trauma can be a lonely isolating experience and the therapeutic relationship is often a significant step in moving forward.
Within this relational context, Joo uses a variety of tools to help people find their inner strength, deal with their past experiences, and rediscover their own power to reach their goals.
One specific tool is Brainspotting. Joo helps people discover what the core subject is and how it is experienced. After finding the "spot", the process of guided observation with dual attunement leads towards healing. People are often surprised by how much better they feel and how much progress they have made in hindsight.
Another tool is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Joo supports people to develop a mental muscle for managing emotions and interpersonal dynamics. Together, events of one’s life are processed and time is slowed down. Each event, internal thought, reaction and emotional response is discussed, and Joo supports people to insert healthier thoughts and actions. This often leads to better emotional stability as well as more manageable and healthy communication with others.
Other highly effective therapies that Joo uses include: Internal Family Systems, motivational interviewing, person centered therapy, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, focusing and SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
Joo explains step by step what is happening as well as provides recommendations, but ultimately, each person determines what feels right for them.
