Navigating Addiction and Understanding its Role in Mental Health

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, 2018), “Among the 42.1 million adults with mental illness, 18.2% also had substance use disorders.” In other words, if you have a caseload of 25 clients, you would have about 4 clients with undiagnosed or diagnosed substance use problems. The aim of the workshop is to equip attendees to support individuals and their loved ones with addiction, enhance client’s mental health, and foster a supportive environment for healing and recovery.
Objectives:
- Early signs and risk factors for addiction
- Addictive behaviors’ contribution to mental health
- Conversations about substance use and addictive behaviors
- Coping skills for clients with addiction
- Evidenced-based approaches and treatment
