She believes in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship, insight, and therapeutic tools and skills to actualize positive, productive change in your life. She honors you as the expert of your own life and values your autonomy in counseling direction, decision-making, and taking action.
Joy practices from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach with people of all ages, primarily adults. She has experience in working with individuals of diverse cultural background, in terms of race, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, religion, etc., and in outpatient and inpatient settings with a focus on co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Her clinical interests include mood disorders, substance use disorders/addiction, trauma/PTSD, racial/cultural identity exploration, life stage transition, grief and loss, and faith and spirituality.
Joy is working under the licensed supervision of Patricia “Katie” Murray while she pursues licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
