It takes strength and courage to seek counseling. Coping with life’s transitions and chronic health issues can be stressful. Often, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable, empathetic and attentive resource to help you sort through these issues. Kathleen has expertise in helping people find peace amongst the chaos. In doing so, she draws on both 30+ years of professional and personal experience.
When pain or medical issues become chronic, they can become consuming and the nervous system naturally becomes overactive. Fortunately the brain can be trained to unlearn this pattern and become less sensitive over time. Kathleen will help you challenge thoughts that are not helpful and develop new ways to think about issues and find solutions. She will partner with you, to build new coping skills, process your feelings and address any anxiety or depression that may accompany your diagnosis. Kathleen is familiar with the myriad of feelings that can result from a diagnosis; feelings such as fear, anger, grief, powerlessness and betrayal. You will work together to find the greater meaning in this process and improve your outcomes by redefining the true focus of your disease or disability.
Kathleen enjoys providing services to adults that have various mental health concerns. She works with individuals, and can include your spouse, family and care team, to help them better understand your concerns. Together, you will build a therapeutic relationship that allows you to feel secure, empowered and enlightened. Kathleen’s approach to therapy is person centered, strength based and solution oriented. She uses many tools and approaches, depending on your specific circumstances.
There is a saying, “We were born to be alive”. Let Kathleen help you get started with living again, by helping you reclaim your life.
