Emily Van Wyk
She/Her/Hers
Dr. Emily Van Wyk (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate and effective individual therapy to adults. Her approach to therapy is integrative: relational, experiential, somatic, and trauma-informed. She is committed to helping her clients understand and regulate their nervous systems, fostering a sense of safety and connection both within themselves and in their relationships.
Emily has a deep passion for helping individuals navigate grief and loss, including traumatic loss, infertility and pregnancy loss, and life transitions that result in ambiguous or non-finite loss. She has a profound interest in working with highly sensitive persons, artistic, creative, and spiritual individuals, healing professionals, and those who seek to live their lives with authenticity and meaning. Emily often works with individuals who have established stability from acute struggles with eating disorders, PTSD, and substance use and are now seeking more expansive healing.
Emily's approach is characterized by empathy, mindfulness, and a deep commitment to understanding the intricate layers of her clients' experiences. She believes in the power of therapy to help individuals access their inner resources and foster self-awareness, growth, and resilience. Guided by the belief that everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive, Emily's goal is to support her clients in reducing unnecessary suffering and becoming fully present to the joys, challenges, surprises, and heartbreaks of their lives.
With nearly twenty years in the mental health field, Emily also has significant experience with clinical supervision, consultation, non-profit development, operations, and leadership roles, all of which has enriched her understanding of the complexities of mental health care and wellbeing.
