Lucy Grantz

Lucy Grantz is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist with a commitment to being in the growth process with her clients. Lucy primarily works with tweens, teens and adults who are struggling with OCD.

Lucy is committed to being in the growth process with her clients, as they work together to unlock the puzzle that OCD can be. Lucy helps clients increase a sense of agency over what can feel like a “runaway train” of thoughts.

Lucy is trained in using exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety. ERP is a method for learning how to allow ourselves to experience avoided thoughts and emotions that have built up needlessly because they seemed frightening. When we start to allow these thoughts and feelings they lose their grip and lighten our emotional load.

Lucy also has a particular focus on the compulsive rumination that tends to come with OCD. In fact, many people struggle for years with OCD in which compulsions are purely mental prior to getting an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Lucy also works with adults and children from a base of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of becoming aware of, without attaching to, thoughts and feelings that may interfere with living peacefully. By becoming more mindful we gain freedom from destructive patterns and engage with the world with greater well-being. Lucy also uses the work of Pia Mellody as a base for working with family of origin issues as they impact present-day struggles.
