Katie works with folx in a variety of ways to help approach emotions, thoughts, experiences, and relationships in more flexible and creative ways to restore and enhance functioning. She takes time to discover each person's approach to, and place in, the world by collaboratively exploring intersectionalities in identity, experiences, and patterns. People's life stories inspire Katie to help clients draw on and integrate their own intrinsic resources to create unique opportunities for change, growth, and healing in the therapy process. Katie strives to be collaborative, culturally responsive, respectful of the client journey, curious, compassionate, creative and to keep in mind the dynamics of power and privilege. Katie finds the therapeutic process effective for processing life transitions, strengthening relationships, reducing distress, increasing effective functioning, increasing resiliency and emotional functioning. As a relationally oriented therapist, Katie views people as in constant relationship to others: family, partner(s), children, friends, and community. This systemic approach to therapy supports individuals, youth, couples, relationships and families of all definitions.
Some areas of special interest and experience include: use of art, gender, life transitions, families of all ages, LGBTQ++ community, and loss issues.
