Kari received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP) and her Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate (PMHNP) from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Using the alphabet as a guide, this makes her a DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC. Say that 10 times fast!
Kari resides in Duluth, Minnesota with her husband, three children, three dogs, and two cats! She enjoys spending time in nature and being in her boat on a lake with her family. She is obsessed with gnomes. And, she has a weakness for peanut butter M&Ms, cake pops, and comfort food.
What Kari loves most about psychiatry is having the ability to help clients find who they are at their deepest level. She works with her clients to identify the symptoms that have caused them to lose their fixed point in this spinning world. She creates a treatment plan that is guided by her clients most deeply held beliefs, values, and principles. She celebrates with her clients when their internal compass returns to representing who they are at the deepest level, their True North.
Kari believes that helping clients find their True North does not need to be painful. It can be comfortable, natural, and done at a pace that works for each individual client. Clients can smile, shed a tear or two, and maybe even enjoy the conversation. She wants her clients to end their visits thinking “Hey! That wasn’t so bad!”. That is her ultimate goal.
