Alexis takes a wide, systemic lens when it comes to mental and relational health and tries to capture the whole picture of the person or people in her care. She believes that therapy should feel safe, a little challenging, and sometimes even exciting with a dose of good humor! Alexis is a strong believer in community care and reproductive and racial justice matters, and weaves a feminist lens into her work as a trauma-informed therapist. She practices EMDR and has a special interest in working with LGBTQIA individuals, couples and relationships of all shapes and sizes, including polyamory and consensual non-monogamy. Alexis received her Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of MN. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Communication Studies & Theatre from South Dakota State University. She began her career working as an in-home family therapist here in the Twin Cities and as a family support therapist in community mental health in rural New Hampshire near Concord. She worked with adolescents and their families in an academic day treatment setting here in the Twin Cities for two years before opening her own private practice in Uptown, Minneapolis in 2017. She has past training in Child Parent Psychotherapy.
Alexis is also a MN BMFT and BBHT board-approved supervisor supporting pre-licensed therapists on their path to licensure.
When she is not working, Alexis is a mother of two rad kids and enjoys giving time to her many interests: playing piano, reading, writing, learning, cooking, crocheting, art, gardening, hosting her friends and loved ones for dinner and conversation, skiing in winter, exploring the city by bicycle in the warmer months, yoga, weightlifting, and traveling as much as humanly possible!
